Traveling to Japan was one of the most eye-opening experiences in going abroad I’ve had thus far. Generally when I travel, I know that it will be culturally stimulating, and that I will have to adapt. However, this trip was different. After spending the first few days with my good friend Xin Song, we parted ways, as Xin went to her teaching position and I traveled on my own.
Throughout my trip, obstacles popped up that I couldn’t have expected. I learned more than just Japanese culture, but about myself and my ability to handle change, adaptation, and dealing with traveling on my own and being on my own in a new place. Most importantly I stayed grounded, and made the most of every day. 10/10 I would recommend a solo trip to Japan.
